Yakun and Yanan

Today (May 26) was our first official free day here in Singapore. We woke up this morning with with two of Rachelle's readers (Yakun and Yanan) and some of the youth around town. Well, it was raining, but the readers assured us it would stop (and it did!). The youth ended up not being able to make it, but we had a great day and experience with the readers. They wanted to show us their favorite spots which is just another indication of Singapore's never ending supply of kindness and hospitality. Singapore is beautiful with all it's various cultures and natural landscapes. The city is made up of mostly Chinese, Indian and Malay people. The major religions are Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam. Today we went to a Buddhist temple and we're slightly taken aback by the religion. We saw many things that made us thank God for the love and relationship we have with him. However uncomfortable or out of place we felt, this gave us an opportunity to discuss with the girls their background and religious values. It was a good segway into Christianity. It was a very full and long day but so good to get to spend time with the readers. Tomorrow we are spending some more time with Yakun and Yanan, so hopefully we can get the youth to come so they can interact and connect.
